Work Experience

Work Experience is short-term employment designed to assist those with no prior work experience. It is an activity designed to enable participants to build a work history, occupational skills, and exposure to the working world.

 

On-the-Job Training

On-the-Job Training (OJT) is short-term, onsite training provided to a participant by their employer under a contract. The participant's wages are subsidized by the WAI program. OJT is an effective tool in assisting customers who have been unsuccessful in obtaining or retaining employment that allows for self-sufficiency.

 

Incumbent Worker Training

Incumbent Worker Training Grants are business‐driven and designed to provide direct financial assistance to train current employees to avert a layoff, retain employees , or increase the skill levels of existing employees so they can be promoted within the company creating backfill opportunities for new employees. The Incumbent Worker Training Grants can offset a portion of the businesses’ costs to train and upgrade the skills of its current workers.
